Chromeo – Don’t Turn The Lights On (Aeroplane Remix)

Dave loved to relax on the baby g to P's rendition of Chocolate Rain

I promise this is going to be my last post for a while about both Chromeo and Aeroplane because even i’m getting bored of hearing their names. So as a finale to this chapter in my blog life, what could be better than Aeroplane remix of Chromeo? Potentially a Chromeo remix of Aeroplane? … It’s he first one… not sure i could have said Aeroplane or Chromeo more in that sentence if I had tried.

The track is in classic Aeroplane style starting subtle then dropping into not only ivory mashing piano love, but also a synth solo as good as any this side of Russ Chimes. Be warned though, it is a bit of a grower so give it about three listens.

Also, I have to link you to Tour De Force’s new mix, because, instead of doing it mostly because he was a mate, this mix is actually worthy of some serious praise, perfect blend of new tunes and tunes you probably haven’t heard before all mixed perfectly into an hour of “sit back and wish you were on the beach” audio goodness.

Gary Numan/Bonar Bradberry – Music for Chameleons/Carlos The Jackal

Carlos the Jackal? no no no no… It’s that Alan Partridge air bass tune. A tune that I had spent potentially days working out was Gary Numans “Music for Chameleons” Some years back. Now confronted with what seems to be exactly the same track jammed between two cosmic cousins by way of a mix I was suprised that Bonar Bradberry had taken it upon himself to rename it giving no reference to Mr Numan.

To make sure I am not reprimanded for not knowing the link between the seemingly new name Bradberry has given the track which makes it wholey acceptable for him to do so, I am going to say… I don’t care. It’s a good idea for a re-edit and one I hope to hear a bit of, but not too much in the million cosmic mixes made every 4 minutes, plus I think I like the new name better anyway…

Alternatively, Listen to the original on Spotify… or don’t…

Aeroplane – Superstar

Insert "dogfight" joke here

As you all know, the now solo artist that is Aeroplane has an album coming out, and from what I hear its going to be not quiet what you expect. Still definitively Aeroplane, but quite a diverse when it comes to styles. But we shall see.

I’m not sure if I have this first but I can’t find it anywhere else so it’s probably the most upfront I have ever been on this blog. What is it? Well it’s a track from the new album isn’t it! It’s pretty good too. Sounds like a mix between ELO and Daft Punk. Its called Superstar… and it will be track 3 on the album

No download link as the label wouldn’t be too happy… but stream and stream again.

Friends of cMaN… The Mixes

George Michael... stupid hand shape tan mark

As you may or may not remember a couple of weeks ago I featured a friend of mines mix… Tour de Force. seems he is getting a bit hooked on it… fine by me, because he shares probably the most similar music taste to me possible. So now he has done three fabulous mixes featuring pretty much every track I have loved over the last year or 3. I’m not even gonna take any credit of being some kind of inspiration and help to him (even though he knows its true ;) )

Hop over to his mixcloud and check them all out… You WILL love them.

Quackcandle... pardon?...

Actually you might not… and the reason would be because you don’t “love all that cosmic Balearic bullshit” and prefer your music a little stankier? If so… Check another good friend of mines mixes, Goes by the name Quackcandle and has two dubstep mixes and one mix that he would class as “fidget wonk” or “wobble donk” or some other ludicrous genre.

Skip over to his mixcloud and check them out… you CAN’T hate them

Right… I have no more friends… that do mixes… so that’s all, and I promise to give you some real new music next time and not let my mates do the work.

Calvi On The Rocks – In The Mix

Making a break(bot) for it...

As i’m not really into doing things twice,  I have written (with my good friend MJ) all about the only festival I am interested in going to ever again for inthemix.com.au so if you want the story… Go HERE to check it out. If I had my way there would be a UK version of this site, hopefully thats in development heh?

One last thing, my track of the festival is below, imagine lying on a beach listening to Holy Ghost! play this amongst other gorgeous New York Disco.

Midnight Magic – Beam Me Up (Jacques Renault Remix)

Tour de Force… Apparently not a Homosexual

A very good friend of mine has done a mix… Yes that’s right, his girlfriends away in Ibiza so he is bored… and however much it pains me to say it. I like it. It’s very now, hopefully it will be a while before it becomes “so five minutes ago”.  A lot of these tracks are the inevitable fallout from our trip to Calvi On The Rocks. A French festival so cool, even the French go there… I’m a bit tired if you are wondering why this isn’t really going anywhere… Anyway… Listen… Enjoy… but not too much. Stupid mixcloud doesnt work with stupid WordPress so you will have to click out to listen.

Tesla Boy – “Thinking of You” Video

Tesla Boy just gave their new video to Pop Justice… Why they didn’t give it to me is a mystery… Everyone who hasn’t heard the album should go and buy it…  Its on Amazon or whatever so why don’t you actually go buy an album for once?… The album doesn’t rely on the tried and tested MySpace tunes you have all heard with only a couple of tracks you have heard before on the tracklisting… which is below… But it is just as you would expect… Fantastic synth pop at it’s best.

Chromeo And Daryl Hall

Just a quick one for those who love the 80′s and Chromeo. This passed me by but in 2008 half of 80′s synthpop duo Hall and Oates teamed up with Chromeo to make sweet eletro synth pop love.

If you wanna watch all the episodes go here… There are also other really good collaborations (Toots and the Maytals, Smokey Robinson etc)

New Chromeo album is imminent and is going to be called “Business Casual”, and don’t worry I will be keeping you informed of all the details… whether you like it or not.

Dizzee Rascal – Heavy ft Chase and Status

...Heavy

Dizzee is like Pendulum, started off his career with some of the newest freshest music you have ever heard… Then decided to go in a complete different direction. In Pendulum’s case making psuedo rock/dance for the Skins generation. In Dizzee’s case he has made cheesy dance music but with credible producers.

The difference is Dizzee has somehow managed to keep a shred of credibility, not 100% how even after leaving Beggars/XL and starting his own label… boy can do no wrong it seems.

With that in mind, he seems to have decided to make a tune which Dirty Stanks of what made him famous in the first place. Dirty filthy gwime (that’s right… gwime) music.

Tune is called “Heavy” and it is exactly that. Chase and Status do a pretty good job with the production switching from grime to dubstep to just downright heavyness. Enjoy

Gonna Get Spor Prolixed out of my Receptor

Tech-Step… Nothing better on the dance floor… Screw Face engaged, King Kong stomp rigorously adhered to and fists and elbows brandished ready for action. Let the rave begin!

Anyway… until the next Renegade Hardware night… you will have to make do with this…

Decibel Point in session (from MixCloud)

Not for a long time has a DnB mix really stood out from the crowd of what seems to be 1. The same old dance floor tunes that any coked up nobhead would tell you is the future of drum and bass… and 2. A future DnB mix that is so minimal that you struggle to even pick out a rhythm through the pure pretense.

I know nothing about the DJ but i wish him well and hope he keeps it up.

If you can’t be arsed to listen to the whole mix… here is a few of the standout tracks. Sorry for the YouTube Links, Drum and Bass producers are pretty precious about their tracks… A good thing in the long run i reckon… but annoying for me…

First Prolix with “Twisted Angel VIP”, a track that if heard “in the dance” would probably make you want scream “FUCK OFF!!” Repeatedly… But in a good way…

Next, Receptor… A Russian producer I believe, with “Cigarette Lighter”… A tune that switches from euro trance to awesome fidgety tech step… Trancy Tech Wonk… Love it

And finally… the old master… Spor with a track that retains all the tech and toughness but jumps around lightly like Paris Hilton at a sausagefest. The tracks called “Some Other Funk”

Happy techstepping
